Deffer Wood near Clayton West is one of my favorite places in the area to go walking. People I meet often say how they have got lost in the wood which is surprising considering its not that big a wood. However it did take me a while, but I finally managed to work out where all the paths went to and how they all interconnect. Over the years I have discovered the parts of the wood which have incredible Bluebell displays in the Spring.
If your someone who just passes through the wood on the major paths then you stand the risk of missing the best displays as most of them are either on the secondary paths or single dirt tracks that have developed over the years.
