Easter Sunrise at High hoyland

DSC00435

Easter is a most special time in the Christian calendar as we reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus, his compassion and love that led him to give up his life for others.

For a number of years now, we have enjoyed meeting together to celebrate the ‘coming back to life’ of Jesus on Easter Sunday.

This year 45 people gathered to do just that. The service was followed by bacon butties and hot drinks back at the Darby & Joan Club in Clayton West.

Easter 2008 however was the first time that we actually encountered snow as we met at sunrise (6am) at High Hoyland graveyard for our outdoor service to celebrate his rising from the dead. The snow provided a unique atmosphere, for a unique event.

This may seem a strange thing to do, but I would say come and see it for yourself next year. It may change your life. If not at least enjoy the bacon butties.
